The 2021 "Impression Civil" Excellent Civil Engineering Themed Photography Contest, sponsored by the Civil Engineering Press Center, was held in classroom X4407 at 6:30 pm, November 23. The competition invited the following judges: Li Wen, the instructor of the Civil Engineering Press Center, Men Ruyi, the instructor of the ASCE Association, Xie Xincen, the teacher in charge of theSmart Communist Youth League Construction, Liu Yulin, the instructor of the Young Volunteers Association, and Gao Luan, the instructor of the Student Union. The competition was hosted by the staff member of the Photography Department of the Civil Engineering Press Center.

At the beginning of the final competition, Lin Liting, the host, introduced the background and scoring rules of this photography contest. "Impression Civil" aimed to call on students to capture the great moments in the field of engineering with their cameras and to show the hard-working mien of outstanding civil engineers in the new era. The final competition included engineering works and humanities works. After the judges reviewed all the final works, the two steps were carried out.

In the evaluation process, the staff of photography department of Engineering Press Center first introduced the content of each entry. After that, the judges discussed the thematic connotations and visual effects of each entry, and scored the works in consideration of the degree of relevance, rationality of photography composition and visual impact. Among the final works, some focuses on the cultural features of the city, some on the wonders of foundation engineering construction, some on the harmonious beauty of humans and nature, and some are well versed in humanity and architecture. The judges made comments on the final works.

After the grading session for each works, the judges and the student staff discussed the overall features of the final works. The judges made comments and summaries from the overall qualities, the theme connotations, and the impressions on the audience.

After a three-hour competition, the "Impression Civil" came to an end successfully at 9:30 pm, November 23. The competition will go on. The final winners will be determined by online voting. The final awards will be announced on the official website of SCE, Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU), Three-wide Education Network and the official Wechat account of “西南交大土木news君”.
